Dental veneers are thin shells made from porcelain or composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They are a popular cosmetic dental solution for addressing stained, chipped, worn, or misaligned teeth. Veneers can also be used to close gaps, reshape teeth, or protect them from further damage, providing a natural-looking, whiter, and brighter smile.
At North Sydney Dentistry, we offer two types of veneers: composite veneers and porcelain veneers. Composite veneers are an affordable option made from durable resin, while porcelain veneers provide enhanced durability and aesthetics for a long-lasting, natural-looking result. Our dentists carefully plan the treatment to ensure your veneers match your teeth in colour and shape. Treatments are designed to minimise discomfort, and multiple veneers can be completed in a single visit where possible, helping to reduce the number of trips to the clinic.
Our team will work with you to determine which type of veneer best suits your needs, lifestyle, and smile goals, ensuring you leave with a confident and radiant smile.

At North Sydney Dentistry, we offer a variety of dental veneer materials to suit different needs and preferences. We encourage patients to carefully review the information we provide and to have a thorough consultation with one of our dentists. We also support seeking second opinions for any dental treatment, as we believe it is important for you to make a fully informed decision about your care.
Composite resin is a polymer-based material reinforced with ceramic particles. Over the past 20 years, advancements have significantly improved its strength and aesthetics.
It is one of the most flexible dental materials, both in its use and properties. Composite resin can be carefully adapted to tooth structures with minimal or no removal of natural tooth material, often blending seamlessly with the existing teeth. This makes it an ideal choice for minimally invasive dental veneers and allows adjustments to the smile immediately, according to the patient’s preferences.
However, due to the limitations of current materials, composite resin is generally not recommended as a long-term veneering solution. The expected lifespan of these veneers is typically 5–10 years, with a higher likelihood of repairs due to chipping or staining, which may increase long-term costs*. Composite veneers are often recommended as a conservative, reversible option, particularly for patients new to veneer treatments**.
*Repairs incur a standard restoration cost.
**Tooth preparation varies significantly between individuals. Your dentist will be able to advise this on examination.

Your smile reflects your joy and confidence, often called the best accessory anyone can have. At North Sydney Dentistry, we believe achieving a beautiful smile should be accessible and affordable.
For patients seeking more than six veneers, we offer a discounted rate, as adding extra veneers does not take proportionally more time but can make a significant difference to your overall smile. While it is possible to have veneers done overseas, our team’s fluency in English and Chinese allows for clear communication about your preferences and expectations.
Dental porcelain veneers may not solve every dental concern, but they can help you start smiling with confidence. In some cases, additional characterisation or processing may be recommended to make the veneers appear more lifelike. These enhancements require extra time and may incur additional fees. At North Sydney Dentistry, patients have a variety of options and services, allowing you to choose the veneer solution that best suits your needs and goals.
Dental ceramics are widely regarded as a reliable long-term restorative material, with an average lifespan of 10–20 years depending on the specific material and techniques used.
Emax Veneers
Emax (Lithium Disilicate) has become a leading material in cosmetic dentistry over the past decade. Known for its high fracture resistance and exceptional aesthetics, Emax is used globally by skilled dentists and ceramists to create durable, natural-looking smiles. It has a proven track record in a variety of applications, including thin veneers, dental crowns, bridges, and implant restorations, offering both strength and beauty where it matters most.
Our dental ceramist based in Sydney is pleased to present us with a discounted rate due to our work volume and to benefit our patients, we feel it is important to pass on this discount. We also have a CEREC machine which can handle simple cases less than 6 teeth, and is ideal for those who are in a hurry as it can be completed in a single-visit.
We strongly recommend for cases with more than 6 Veneers to be completed in 2 visits minimum as the smile design process is rather complicated and the dentist may recommend a trial period with temporaries prior to placing the final Emax veneers.
A nightguard may be advised by the dentist to protect the Veneers.

- The warranty is limited to failures of materials, including debonding/fallen off and fracture of materials. It does not apply to recurrent dental decays, or loss of tooth due to accidents, gum diseases, and dental abscesses.
- Patient must have had dental examinations and cleans at least twice a year at our practices. If the patient is an existing patient at our practices, some discretion consideration is applicable should the patient failed to attend for regular examinations and hygiene maintenance.
*Note: Conditions apply. To speak to one of our friendly staff for more info, call (02) 8090 1108 or e-mail us at info@northsydneydentistry.com.au for any questions that you may have and we will respond within 1-2 business hours to all e-mails and Voicemails.
- 5 year limited warranty for Porcelain Veneers is limited to breakage of material, and does not cover for pre-existing or newly developing dental diseases not related to the veneers. Patients must present for regular scale and clean maintenance 6 monthly at any of our practices to be eligible for this warranty to ensure good health and maintenance of oral hygiene.
- No warranty is applicable to composite resin dental veneers as studies show the material is conventionally believed to be a weaker material than Porcelain resin material. Aesthetic of the composite resin veneer is comparable to ceramic veneer initially, however strength and resistance to staining is poorer and more maintenance may be required. A nightguard may be advised by the dentist to protect the Veneers.
- Veneers may not be the ideal dental treatment for every dental cosmetic issue. Upon consultation, the dentist will discuss with you the best option rather than initiate the work without gaining your consent.
Take a look at our real life case examples below to get an idea of the quality of our work at our two practices for North Sydney Dentistry and Hornsby Dental. Our highly skilled dentists work at both practices.
North Sydney Dental Veneer - CASE 1
Patient patient presents with old anterior veneers that have been breaking down and unaesthetic proportions.
Complete replacement of old veneers with aesthetic new veneers more in proportion.
North Sydney Composite Veneer - CASE 2
The patient attended the clinic seeking options for aesthetic enhancement of her teeth. She reported feeling self-conscious about her smile and declined to smile for the initial photograph due to concerns about its appearance.
Careful placement of direct nano-hybrid composite resin veneers has managed to significantly improve the aesthetic of the patient’s smile. The shades were carefully chosen to blend with the remaining teeth and shapes that can help close the gaps of the teeth without looking out of proportion.
North Sydney Porcelain Veneer – CASE 3
Patient is not happy with the look of his smile. An otherwise dentally fit young man, the patient has had a very well placed dental crown some 10 years ago. Unfortunately, the colour of his natural teeth have darkened since the provision of the dental crown.
After discussing his options, the patient chose ceramic veneers with Emax. The veneers were designed with a carefully selected shade and natural anatomy to enhance the smile while maintaining a realistic appearance.
North Sydney Cosmetic Porcelain Veneer – CASE 4
The patient was concerned about the appearance of his smile, noting that some teeth appeared smaller than others. Additionally, the existing crown was darker and less translucent than the surrounding teeth.
This image shows the results after porcelain veneers were placed on both the upper and lower teeth. Adjustments were made based on the patient’s preferences, with input encouraged throughout the treatment process. The patient expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
Dental veneers are generally suitable for individuals with healthy teeth and gums. They may not be recommended for patients with weakened teeth, insufficient enamel, active tooth decay, or periodontal disease. Porcelain veneers can help improve the appearance of teeth affected by staining from coffee, tea, soft drinks, or smoking. Patients who grind or clench their teeth may be at higher risk of cracking or chipping their veneers; a custom mouthguard can help protect them. In some cases, very crooked or misaligned teeth may require alternative or additional treatments before veneers are considered.
Generally, porcelain veneers are expected to last 10-15 years as they are very durable materials. If they break, you will need to have the whole veneer replaced hence regular dental care is vital in helping you maintain the life expectancy of your veneers.
